Professional Experience
I have worked in the Dairy Industry 7 years. I was an Assitant Factory Engineer for Nestle Zimbabwe for two years, reporting to the Factory Engineer. I was in charge of the maintenance requirements of plant and equipment including statutory requirements. I was also in charge of various projects, that arose from time to time
I moved to Dairibord Zimbabwe Limited, as a Regional Engineer, and I was responsible for the maintenance of the dairy processing plant and associated amenities. I was also in charge of the maintenance of farm installations and milk collection points. The plant was a sterilised milk processing plant which also manufactured its own packaging hence the Blow Moulding plant also fell under my portifolio. I stayed in the position for five years.
I then moved to BOC Zimbabwe which was largely a gases producing company specialising in the production of Industrial and Medical gases and welding rods.
I joined as a Plant Engineer where I was responsible for the formulation of maintenance strategy to ensure that the company utilites and customer installations were properly maintained to meet customer expectations. This entailed planning of activities and allocation of resources for execution of such work as well as measuring adequacy. I was also in charge of all projects including customer installations
I was upgraded to the position of Works Manager, and in this position I was in charge of production and maintenance as well. I had to ensure planning adequacy to meet sales requirements of products and to ensure that this was also carried out in a safe and efficient manner. I had to use various tooling techniques to ensure that plant availabilty was adequate, and also carried various plant optimisation strategies to improve product delivery and supply.
Because of the economic situation in Zimbabwe, I moved to Arcelormittal South Africa which is a steel manufacturing plant. I have worked in the Blast Furnace Maintenance department before I moved to the Sinter Maintenance department where I am currently based.
I am in charge of ensuring the adequacy of the maintenance plan and making improvements thereto. I also carry out Root Cause Analysis of all failures and carry out improvements that eliminate them. I also carry out process improvement effort that ensure that production is done in a viable manner.
