Shutdown Engineer (Shutdown and Planning department)
Managing the continuous work flow of the Shutdown and Planning Groups in the Production & Maintenance Department. of a major oil and gas company.
Main functions: ensure that all materials and resources are ready to implement planned shutdown activities; coordinate with all KPO assets to develop vessel inspection work packs; provision of support to Planning Engineers in developing integrated shutdown plan; provision of support to KPO assets in co-ordination of pre and post –shutdown activities by other specialised companies; identification of areas where shutdown tasks and timings could be reduced by further engineering.
Main duties: develop job plans (shutdown work pack) and other working documentations by the management in accordance with the established procedure during shutdown period, i.e. jobs performed with full shutdown of all production processes; participate in the planning and co approval to involve other specialized companies in the performance of jobs or part of jobs; take actions in order to study the department performance capabilities and optimization of internal and available resources for the job performance; assist in developing shutdown contract scope of works; carry out technical evaluations; track shutdown requisitions and purchase orders; identify their priorities, liaise with expediting stuff and inform End Users of potential delays and threat to shutdown dates.; coordination of shutdown materials management.

During such kind of activities I have improved my communication and supervision skills as I was the first point of contact for a wide range of disciplines needing support in a dynamic operational environment and well developed man-management abilities ensure those under my responsibility are supported and encouraged to perform at their optimum.
