As a key person in the operations department I was responsible of carrying out all operation related activities in the Linear Alkyl Benzene Petrochemical Complex (LAB).
Operation using the plant DCS & assigning control parameters.
• Maintaining optimum performance of units.
• Shift supervision & giving instructions for panel & field operators.
• Coordination with maintenance department in precautionary maintenance & breakdowns.
• Issuing work permits, reporting to product manager.
• On the job training of junior staff (OJT)
• Performing precommissioning activities such as hydro testing, line flushing, air drying, nitrogen purging.
• Trouble shooting of many operational problems to guarantee that the plant is always on-stream.
• Tuning control parameters of various types of controllers in the plant DCS.

I served my apprenticeship in ARADET petrochemical complex. I’m also a Member of the Iraqi Union of Engineers since 2002.

Complex is a large scale petrochemical plant consisting of the following processes: SHELL Sulfolane aromatic extraction process, UOP Thermal Hydro De-Alkylation (THDA) process, BTX fractionation process, Paraffin fractionation process, UNIBON hydrogenation process, UOP MOLEX process for separation of n-Paraffin through molecular sieve technology, UOP HF Alkylation process, UOP (Paraffin to Olefin Conversion) PACOL process, Hot oil, N2 production, Steam generation, cooling towers & many other Utility units.
