Petroleum engineer

To persue excellence in Petroleum and Research into low cost techniques of production in a high growth company with considerable advancement opportunities. However, management position has been a long-term objective.

On 16th of July 2007, I was engaged by Ghana National Petroleum Corporation(GNPC) as a trainee engineer. During the period under review, I was attached to the following departments.
July 2007 Trainee Drilling Engineer (Engineering Department, GNPC-Ghana)
Job Purpose and Responsibilities
• Analyzing and checking the composition of the drilling mud
• Making sure that the mud weight balances with the formation pressure to prevent blow out
• Testing the drilling mud after drilling to determine the changes in composition
Reporting Relationship
Reports directly to the chief drilling engineer
August 2007 Trainee Geophysicist (Department of Geophysics, GNPC-Ghana)
Job Purpose and Responsibilities
• Seismic data interpretation
• Logs interpretation
• Determination of reservoir fluid bearing zones
August 2007 Trainee Geologist (Department of geology, GNPC-Ghana)
Job Purpose and Responsibilities
• Washing of drilled rock samples and preparing it for lab analysis
• Preparing the core samples using Aprotec A and B, vacuum impregnation Equipment, Silica Grinder Polisher, Hillquister and Ultra Violet cure for its porosity determination at the laboratory.
• Identification of source rocks
• Identification of fluid bearing rocks(permeable rocks)

I was also engaged by Saltpond Oil Producing Company Limited (SOPCL), an offshore oil company through GNPC for a one day Production Engineering Training.
Job Purpose and Responsibilities
• Checking of subsurface equipments and making sure they are in good working condition
• Conducts Basic Sediment and Water Test(BSW)
• Record Temperature and Pressure Gauges on the Separators, Manifold and Well Head.
• Checking the amount of Produced Oil, Water and Gas
• Safety measures were obeyed
