• Review all applicable drawing and standards to ensure that base metal and filler metal are properly specified.
• Verifying chemical composition and mechanical properties of material and condition and storage of filler metal, base material.
• Verify that the welders, welding operator and tack welders have been properly qualified and the welding is performed in accordance with applicable codes, specification and drawing.
• Check the materials if it is as per specification and visual check if it is free from deformation or any damage from transportation.
• Co-ordination of shop and site fabrication of pipe spools and structures and erection works, engineering design, purchase, and procurement and planning.
• Preparation of project Quality plans, Welding Procedure Specification for Piping.
• Co-ordinate with clients and Inspection agencies.
• Conducting Welder Qualification for Piping as per the Project Specification & ASME Sec IX Co-ordinating with NDT, Labs.
• Carryout the visual inspection before, during and after welding
• Verifying the preheat temperature before welding and inter pass temperature during welding.
• Surveillance of welding parameters and technique for compliance with welding procedure and the storage of electrode as manufacturer recommendations.
• Witnessing all weld joint root pass after cleaning, weld joint geometry, weld size and weld appearance.
• Conducting In process examination of joint fit up, cleanliness and variables specified by the joining procedure including filler metals, interpass cleaning.
• Preparation of Inspection Request and maintain the inspection Reports.
• Record and mark the material traceability on the materials such as the Heat no of the pipes, spool no, drawing no, weld no and welder symbols.
• Co-ordinates with NDT Tasks for RT, UT, MPI & DPT.
• Interpretation of Radiography Films.
• Monitor the weld repair activity from marking the location of defects, grinding and welding as per approved weld repair procedure.
• Preparation of Fabrication Control Sheet, Test packs for piping.

Educational Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering) from University of Madras, Chennai 1993.
• Certificate course in ASNT LEVEL – II (RT, UT, MPI & DPT)
• Certified welding course – AWS – CWI CERT No: 08071981.

• Certificate course in ASNT LEVEL – II (RT, UT, MPI & DPT)
• Certified welding course – AWS – CWI CERT No: 08071981.
