2009 Capstone Casting Team – Project Manager
University of Windsor, Windsor, Ontario
(September 2008 – August 2009)
Managed a group of ten engineering students through a fourth year capstone project, where the objective was to produce a thin walled casting using W-319 Aluminum alloy.
• Delegated specific tasks to team members.
• Organized scheduling for subgroups and ensured deadlines were met.
• Met weekly with the advising professors updating them on progress and receiving feedback which was then relayed back to the group.
• Acted as liaison between the project and Nemak of Canada; the University’s industry partner.
• Organized and conducted weekly meetings with group members.
• Concisely documented project from conception to the manufacture of final product in a report submitted to the advisor, faculty, and Nemak of Canada.
• Collaborated with graduate students, ensuring required data and information from the project was transmitted to them to be used as part of their on-going research.
• During the manufacturing stage, spent two weeks at the Nemak Engineering Center with engineers and metallurgists building sand moulds and casting 16 parts.
• Arranged and conducted metallurgical testing for final casted products.
• Performed two faculty presentations, exhibiting the progress and results of the project.
