Professional Experience
I am currently positioned as Senior Toolpusher on a Drillmec, series HH102, hydraulic land rig, supervising the day to day activities of all phases of onsite drilling operations for the establishment and maintenance of the first ever production coal bed methane wells in Europe.
Main activities include:
Project meetings, defining client objectives, formulating logistics and work schedules, resolving operational issues, reporting progress and planning forthcoming operations
Carrying out drilling unit inspections and formulating risk assessments
Preparing, presenting, negotiating and gaining client approach to construction plans
Engaging with cross-functional teams to plan, scope and allocate tasks, equipment and resources
Supervising and leading drilling and ancillary personnel involved in downhole motor MWD directional drilling operations, conventional and wire-line coring, casing runs, cementing, whipstocks, fishing down-hole tools, workovers and completions within the coal bed methane sector
Training and providing on the job support to new recruits and team members
Proactive monitoring and reporting of plant and equipment faults, minimising breakdowns and ensuring optimum productivity levels in line with service agreements and cost targets
Trouble-shooting, fault diagnosis, modification and problem resolution
Supervision of deviated and horizontal well drilling to plan
Quality assurance to the highest standard of engineering practices
Implementing health, safety and security initiatives in respect of staff, the drilling unit and associated equipment – ensuring safe and acceptable practices in line with company policies
Updating operating procedures, drilling logs, and IADC Reports and documentation
Prior to the above, I spent ten years offshore, in the North Sea and West of Shetland Atlantic, onboard the semisubmersible drilling unit "The Henry goodrich" as mechanic2. Experience included maintenance and repair of all drilling and barge related equipment.
