Inspection(QA) Engineer

Presently employed as Assistant Manager-Inspection(QA)in SPIC.The job provides me with challenging opportunities in the field of Inspection & gave opportunity to be a part of the executing team of many modification proposals

Responsibilities:

• Lead the Quality Assurance & control function.
• Managing overall quality assurance and control processes
• Defining quality control plans
• Ensuring the quality of all the maintenance activities and modification activities carried out are as per the specified standards.
• Driving continual improvement and corrective action throughout the organization
• Condition monitoring of all the rotary equipments based on criticality and suggesting suitable corrective action for any abnormalities.
• Inspection of all the vessels in and assessing their reliability based on various Non Destructive Testing methods (NDT) and suggesting suitable corrective action for any abnormalities.
• Improving the reliability of the rotary equipments through the use of condition monitoring and continuous improvement methods.
• Assessing the condition of all the spares ordered for plant use and ensuring their quality is as per the standards.
• Ensuring compliance of various mandatory requirements including IBR, Explosive license and getting approval from DCIF for pressure vessels.
• Ensuring the quality of equipments & maintaining the quality in production by means of undergoing vigilance Inspection in all the plants
• Training operators on Quality & productivity improvement methodologies
• Knowledge of Indian, ASTM standards
• Problem solving and quality improvement
• Supplier technical assistance
• Coordinating customer inspections and third party audits
• Failure analysis

Project work:

• Leading the Inspection team in Re-routing of Cross Country Pipeline (Ammonia) for about 5 Kms from Tuticorin port - 6 months project.
• Repair of Naphtha & Fuel oil tanks in Tank farm and headed the Secondary seal erection in Naphtha tanks.
• Coordinated IBR for the years 2007-2009 as a part of the mandatory requirement.
• Lead the Inspection team in Inspecting the Ammonia Storage Sphere (Horton Sphere) as a part of statutory requirement
• Coordinating the Cooling tower modification in Sulphuric acid & in Ammonia plant from Inspection side.
• Headed the implementing of the integrated report & multi purpose information tool generating system- Activ
• Underwent shutdown job activities in Shriram Fertilizers Limited, Kota.

Secured Bachealor of Engineering in Mechanical from Anna University with First Class in 2007.

• Under went three day training program on First Aid conducted by St. John’s Ambulance Association.
• Obtained ASNT level-II in Visual Testing, Film Interpretation, Ultrasonic testing, Magnetic particle Testing, Radiographic testing, Liquid Penetrant testing

• Secured ‘Diploma in Industrial Safety’ from Annamalai University with 72.2%
• Undergoing ‘Diploma in Quality management’ in Annamalai University.

Academic Excellence:

• Presented many papers in Intra & Inter college symposiums and won prizes and appreciation
• Secured Ramanujam Award for scoring centum in Maths in SSLC (X STD).
• Secured centum in Science in SSLC (X STD).
• Headed the volley ball team of my school in District & Zonal matches and won many credits.
