Additional Information
Belinda joined Riversdale Mozambique in Tete in October 2008. She was the Environmental Superintendent gaining government approvals for a Greenfields site. Belinda also established the Environmental team to cover all areas of the operation from exploration to construction. National Mozambicans were employed where training and mentoring was undertaken in order to achieve a high standard of Environmental Management.
Belinda began her mining career working for Xstrata Plc in Mount Isa. During this time she gained practical knowledge of mining techniques, mine safety and production requirements.
When joining Barrick Gold, Lake Cowal the direction within mining changed from production to Environmental Management where she gained practical and operational skills of Environmental Monitoring within the mining phase of a project. Prior to this, working as an Environmental Consultant for URS in Darwin, gained her experience in project management and report writing to satisfy government approval.
Belinda’s first professional position was a Spatial Information Officer (SIO) for the Department of Natural Resources and Water in far North Queensland. As a SIO she gained experience in the field of GIS, working predominantly on the Queensland Land Use Mapping Program. This work included publishing a Land use change methodology paper.
