Objective I aspire to learn more and gain more practical experience in industry, as well as to broaden the scope of my technical knowledge and skills. I seek to develop my career

1. Diesel Hydrotreater Debottlenecking:
• Performing first round mass balance as to be used as base case
• Co-ordinating and overseeing test runs on the Diesel Hydrotreater ( aligning Technical services with Operations and Laboratory to ensure all sampling done and analysed as per requirements)
• Performed reconciled mass balance
• As part of the project it was necessary to do a study on the Diesel Blending balance, to ensure adequate tankage available for increased volume as well as to establish where the products of the diesel pool was ending up.
• Built the hydraulic model for the Diesel Hydrotreater reactor circuit, which was used as a basis for the project.

2. Opacity Upgrade Project
• Misaligned opacity analysers were giving inconsistent data, and were subsequently investigated
• Viable alternatives were investigated as to mitigate this issue, as a result it was decided that it would be best to replace the analysers
• Researched alternative technology and vendors, liaised with vendors and subject matter experts, on which would be the preferred way forward

3. Cooling Water Flowmeter Upgrade
• Conducted a study on the North Side cooling water facilities of the refinery
• Identified potential flowmeters for upgrade, from local to DCS.
• Engaged stakeholders to identify important flowmeters in a bid to reduce costs
• Reviewed whether it was viable/possible to upgrade existing flowmeters versus installing all new flowmeters, to reduce project cost

4. General
• Assisted various unit engineers with vessel inspections and catalyst change-outs during turnaround and inspections
• Custodian for Process Engineering intranet website
• Developed spreadsheets for ease of calculations

Leadership
• Taking initiative on projects and delegating work to the relevant people.
• I sat on the Student’s Representative Council in high school.

Communication
• Having been a Telesales Agent and Bartender good communication skills and communicating with a varied group of people was key to delivering on my commitments, and being effective in the teams I form part of.
• Written communication also forms part of being effective as I have to write up reports for the projects that I work on and have to insure that the documentation and drawings are well understood.

Organization
• Liaising and aligning different departments within the refinery to achieve goals and get results expeditiously.
