Provide guidance and expertise to all personnel on board the rig in safety, health, training and environmental issues in accordance with regulatory requirements, contractual obligations and company policy and procedures.
• Ensure that ALL personnel upon arrival receive a rig-specific safety orientation prior to reporting to their work station / job.
• Coordinate, guide and monitor rig personnel in the implementation of company processes such as Hazard Identification, Safety Training Observation Program [STOP], Job Safety Analyses [JSA}, Safety Awards, etc, to prevent or correct at risk behaviors and unsafe conditions and ensure the necessary data collection and reporting.
• Compile and maintain relevant safety records and reports in an organized and readily retrievable manner as required of the company's management system.
• Provide support to onboard supervisory personnel in the training of their subordinates as required by company policy or in response to other requirements.
• Work with the OIM in scheduling and conducting weekly safety drills, including man overboard, fire and abandon rig, etc, and report their completion.
• Conduct equipment inspections in accordance with agreed schedule to determine full operability and compliance with all applicable regulations and standards. If deficiencies are found, I ensure that the equipment is removed from service and timely and appropriate corrective actions are implemented.
• Chair weekly safety meetings and pre-tour meetings, and provide appropriate presentation materials, guidance and support.
• Provide the necessary support to the OIM and other personnel in reporting, investigating and closing out incidents, and help in ensuring lessons learned are communicated.
• As a member of the rig crew, participate in all company safety, health and environment processes and programs, including undertaking STOP observations and audits, and take personal responsibility for the safety of self and others.
• Perform Helicopter Landing Officer duties.
