•Act as the Captain’s adviser on all matters related to hospital services, passenger and crewmember’s health and the hygienic condition on board
•Conducting daily medical consultations for passengers and crewmembers and responds to all emergency situation that arises.
•Responsible for the administrative procedures for treatment of illnesses, injuries and deaths in accordance with the applicable regulations. Assists the vessel officers in the preparation of reports where your inputs as vessel physician are necessary and/or desirable.
•Responsible for all medications and drugs on board, ensuring that all medicines required to be on stock, as prescribed by MARINA are available and dated.
•Ensures that all equipments in the clinic are operational and usable.
•Perform actual laboratory testing and proper treatment of the water supply of the vessel of the contractor’s client
•Plan and execute in-house training and development projects relating to health, sanitation and first aid.
•Screening and evaluation of pregnant passengers, elderly, disabled and those with medical problems prior to boarding the ship.

Responsible for the conduction of medical and physical examination of employees bound to work abroad and Mariners who will undergo maritime trainings for the provision of medical clearance. Interpretation and evaluation of ECG tracings for detection of possible cardiac pathology. In-charge for the assessment of out-patient department clients by extracting patient’s medical history, performing physical examinations, ordering laboratory procedures and diagnostics that will aid in the diagnosis and management.

Assisted in several major and minor surgeries, emergency procedures such as chest tube thoracostomy, thoracocentesis, paracentesis, cricothyroidotomy etc. A licensed ACLS provider. Currently, a volunteer going on duty at the Philippine Orthopaedic Center which caters mild to severe trauma cases. I am currently employed as a Vessel Physician (Ship Doctor) for Super Ferry Philippines which has a capacity of 2,500 passengers on-board with a duty schedule of 24 hours per day, 7 days a week.I have a kind and compassionate manner in dealing with patients and have excellent working relationships with staff and colleagues for I believe that mutual respect and cooperation are a necessity for providing the highest quality of patient care along with supporting the organization’s prosperity and growth.
