Career Objective
Seeking a career in the field of electrical engineering, where I can develop and demonstrate my technical and management skills to meet company’s goals.
Professional Experience
Site Work Experience:
Consolidated Contractors Company
(HAWIYAH NGL PLANT, Equate ethylene cracker plant, 300/132 KV substations)
13th December 2005 – present.
· I was in charge of the installation and maintenance of Lighting and small power systems for two substations and one industrial building. I supervised the installation of different lighting fixtures and small power outlets based on the approved client drawings. As well, as the wiring of these fixtures and outlets based on the block diagrams and National electrical code 2008. In addition, the erection of low tension boards and testing prior to panels energization.
· I supervised the maintenance and installation of fire alarm systems for two substations. The scope included the installation of smoke detectors, bell alarms, pull alarm stations and addressable fire alarm control panels. In addition, the wiring of these elements based the client drawings.
· I executed the installation and maintenance of HVAC electrical systems based on NEC 2008, client specification and drawings. The scope included the laying of power and control cables for evaporators, condensing and compressors units. In addition, the sizing of circuit breakers and cutouts (fused disconnect switches) based on NEC 2008.
· I supervised the installation of double conversion UPS, batteries and DC systems. The scope included the determination of UPS sizes based on the steady-state, future growth and transient power calculations. In addition, the cabling works between UPS unit, ATS, backup generator and batteries.
· I supervised the laying of power and control cables for several electric motors, transformers and heaters at site. I also executed the wiring and termination of these cables based on the elementary diagrams.
I carried out the telephone wiring for network interface devices and modular jacks using CAT 5 cables at two substations.
I carried out the installation and commissioning of different cathodic protection system (impressed current and sacrificial) for several carbon steel lines, vessels and tanks.
Eductation
Education:
June 2005: B.S in Electrical engineering with distinction
Carleton University, Ottawa
experience continued..
I executed the Installation of the self regulating/MI heat trace cables as per Tyco Thermal technical sheet and ISO piping drawings. These cables were laid as per design requirements on mechanical process lines, instrument impulse tubes and elements. In addition, I supervised the entire gland and termination works for these heat trace cables based on the vendor drawings. Moreover, I have carried out all the commissioning tests needed prior to the installation of these cables on site.
Certification
I supervised the laying and testing of 132 KV XLPE cables between five substations at jabber Al Ahmad area. In addition, I carried out the phase marking for transposed cables system, and sheath cross bonding (to eliminate EMF at sheath). I was also in charge of conducting all tests needed prior to final handout to ministry of electricity and water of Kuwait (sheath test, high voltage DC and AC TESTs, capacitor test, phase checking, etc.
Additional Information
Office work Experience:
· Attend meeting with client to discuss project activities, target dates and technical problems encountered on site.
· Preparation of as built (red marking) drawing, which reflects all the changes that are occurred on site.
· Material take off and preparation of material requisitions, quotation and estimation of contracts
· File drawings, specification and standards and arrange copies for people on site
· Arrange and distribute people to meet our scheduled activities and target dates.
· Make Load calculations, voltage drop calculations, cable and over current/load devices sizing for lighting, small power, Transformers, motors and HVAC systems based on the NEC.
· Estimating the maximum fault current at any location in the electrical system based on the point to point method to insure proper sizing of the interrupting rates of the over current devices and cables withstand capabilities.
· Determine the number of lighting fixtures needed based on the utilisation factor and flux level required for the working plane.
· Complete cathodic protection system design, Sizing of the rectifier transformer and the determination anode numbers needed to bring the half cell potential of steel to the levels required by the client.
