EXPERIENCE GAINED IN THE FIELD OF NDT:
From December 1995 to date, attached to the Ceylon
Petroleum Corporation, Colombo, as the Inspection Engineer in the Engineering Inspection Department.
The daily work of the job is to carry out inspection work related to non-destructive testing/mechanical testing in oil storage tanks, pipelines, gate valves and in pumps etc.
EXPERIENCE CONTINUED : Inspection duties have included : ultrasonic thickness measurements, use of flaw detection, X-ray film viewing and detection of defects. Crack detection using dye penetration tests, after new weld fabrication of pipe welds and in new tank constructions (in shell courses and floors.)
In new tank construction, it tanks taken in to maintenance and in new pipeline fabrication. inspection work was carried out according to API, ASTM and ASME standards, along with interpretation of results and an inspection report (inspection report for acceptance / or rejection).

MAJOR SHUTDOWN EXPERIENCE Extensive experience has been gained in inspection
IN OIL REFINERY conducted during oil refinery shutdowns, including examination of vessels, reactors, columns and in the cooling tower, and in all pipelines.
In the annual shutdown of 2001 this involved X-ray explosion, -ray explosion, thickness gauging of pipelines, UT scanning, MPI testing, holiday testing of pipes, radiography (X-ray and -ray), UT thickness reactors and columns. measurements of pipelines, in pressure vessels,
• From February 1980 to September 1990 at the Industrial Development Board of Sri Lanka. (Nonferrous and cast iron casting/ quality inspection including radiography in casting work.)
TRAINING
• June 1998 – Juuly 1988 Radiography in NDT University of Colombo.
