Responsibilities: Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of stages 1-3 of the Azoxystrobin manufacturing process. Line management of several Manufacturing technicians. Maintain and improve both process performance and plant safety performance. Ensure Stages 1-3 meet production and quality targets. Use and audit of permit to work system, including hot work permits and confined space permits.

Manufacturing & Development Technologist
Kemfine, Grangemouth May 2008- Jan 2009
Responsibilities: Siting of manufacture inquiries, including EIS submission and development of P&IDs. Manufacture of products, operation of process plant equipment, and monitoring of process performance. Configuration of plant using flexi-hoses, first line maintenance of plant, clearance of blockages, filter changes.

Process Engineer / Operations support Owner, 6-APA Extraction

Responsibilities: Monitor performance of multi-stage penicillin extraction containing both batch and continuous unit operations using in-process KPIs. Investigation of yield and quality issues as part of technical support team. Generation of technical solutions for plant problems and process improvements. Design and implement plant trials for changes to process / raw materials. Draft / alter Standard Operating Procedures with regards to changes on plant.
Skills Gained: Increased knowledge of statistics and their use in monitoring process performance. Use of lean sigma tools, e.g. Root cause analysis & FMEA.
