.Synthesis of organophylic clay from Algerian clay

Abstract:
The operation consists to convert the gross clay into sodic clay, by cleaning it through a Sodium Chloride Solution, when the sodium has been exchanged by the other ions that the clay contains, and after elimination of the total chloride ions by cleaning it again by a distilled water, the sodium existing inside the clays¡¦ leaflets has been exchanged another time by a macro Organic ions (surfactant), in order to get the Organophylic Clay.

Once the organophylic clay is prepared, it has been got in the formulation of drilling mud sample, which will be taken to the Research and Development Center located in Boumerdes (middle of Algeria), in order to characterise it and check if our prepared Organophylic clay is useful by measurement of a several parameters that characterise the drilling mud.
