Professional Experience
1990 – 2004 I worked for Kenton Utilities now Balfour Beatty Utilities for 14 years. I started as a YTS then apprentice before being taken on full time. My duties were to repair and maintain all vehicles and machinery to MOT standard, this included plant machines, hydraulic cranes and equipment and industrial engines.
In 1998 I was promoted to charge hand mechanic, which entailed delegating work to my peers, ensuring a high standard of work was being done and also promoting tidiness and health and safety in the workplace. Other duties included welding and fabricating.
In 2002 I was promoted to workshop manager, which entailed all of the above as well as service and MOT schedules, parts control and the general running of the workshop.
2004 – April 2008 I worked for Bell Truck Sales, Mercedes Benz Dealership. Work must always be done to a very high standard. My duties include repair and maintenance of all the Mercedes Benz truck and van range which also includes the use of the latest STAR diagnostic computer equipment. I also act as team leader on a regular basis which entails delegating work to my peers and completing quality controls on completed work before going back to the customer, ensuring high standards are kept.
I am also part of the Service 24 Hr callout team, which relies on a quick breakdown response in a professional and safe manner. It also demands a high repair rate and quick thinking in order to provide the highest levels of service.
April 2008 – PRESENT
I currently work for Baker Hughes Wireline Atlas Division as a General Mechanic. I currently work in the Libyan desert but have also travelled and worked in various North African counties. My duties are to maintain all mechanical equipment required for our specified work on and off shore. I am also the vibrator technician carrying out seismic jobs at rig/well site and have also lots of experience of desert life and driving. I am regularly on the rig floor preparing jobs and assisting in tool configuration. I am familiar with the oil and gas industry as a whole and understand the responsibilities, safety and expectations that go with being a service provider to the oil companies.
