Petroleum Inspector/Surveyor

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Independent quantity and quality surveying using ASTM and IP Standards
that carries with it the following expressed responsibilities:

LOADPORT

Shore Tank
• Coordinate with terminal authority for inspection of tank, pipeline and valve to be used;
• Gauging, sampling and temperature reading;
• Witness sample at laboratory testing.

Vessel

• Inspects vessel’s compartments prior to loading if fit to load for nominated products;
• Asks the chief officer anent last 3 cargoes, and tank cleaning method for compatibility of cargo to be loaded;
• Re calculate vessel experience factor via ASTM standard;
• If so required? do wall washing and bring samples to laboratory for analysis;
• Withdraws first foot and after loading samples and tests samples at laboratory for density variance against refineries’ certificate of test;
• Inspects cargo before and after transfer if it meets prescribed standards;
• Calculate cargo via ASTM and IP Standards;
• Inspects non-cargo tanks including vessel’s fuel oil tanks for any trace of products; and,
• Monitor and supervise loading operation.



DISPORT:

Shore Tank

• Gauging, sampling and temperature reading;
• Witness sample at laboratory testing.

Vessel

• Inspects/calculate consignments, via ASTM and IP Standards, if it conforms to contract specifications;
• Withdraws samples from tanks and routes to laboratory;
• Inspects vessel and terminal pipelines for leaks and seal valves to secure tank contents
• Inspects non-cargo tanks, and if so required, including vessel’s fuel oil tanks;
• Prepares, verifies, and examines cargo ladings, oil transportation records; and,
• Monitors and supervise discharging operation.
