Material Controller (Purchase & Coordination) &

Major Responsibilities/ Jobs handled:
Fully responsible for procurement and control of materials for pre-fabricated piping systems with prime materials inputs including carbon steel & stainless steel. In full flow, the value of materials procured exceeds USD2 million per month.
Preparation of materials procurement plans along with specific schedules in coordination with the using departments/ projects.
Documented materials specifications /overriding terms and invited offers from over 50 manufacturers and suppliers of pipes fittings and flanges spread across the world.
Generated spreadsheets of comparative quotes. Checked suppliers credentials / documents and placed orders.
Maintained close coordination with the suppliers to ensure delivery of materials as per specified schedules.
Streamlined the process of receiving materials into the AS400 system after due verification and maintained stock records in AS400 system.
Systematized allocation of materials to various projects in accordance with the spool drawings received from engineering department.
Implemented innovative cost reduction techniques and triggered healthy competition among suppliers to bargain best procurement terms.
Initiated vendor rationalization process chucking out non-performers from the list.
Encouraged long-term purchase contracts to even out the effect of fluctuating prices.
Meticulously maintained the database/profiles/records of manufacturers, dealers, suppliers, retailers, and vendors for various products from the Approved Supplier's List. Evaluated suppliers' performance on quarterly basis and resolved issues facilitating productive business association.
