I have worked on petro chemical shutdowns in a supervisory and later specifying role for the past 20 years both here in the UK and overseas.
Roles and responsibilities
Liaise with client engineering, process and inspection departments. From the process clean, pressure vessel scheme of inspections and equipment work list, specify using P+Ids, piping specs, drawings and blinds lists, identify material that will be needed to open, clean, inspect, and test equipment. Interface with the clients sub contractors on scaffold access and insulation removal. Specify material for equipment closure and reinstatement. Using the client/ company’s electronic planning and control database, create and store work packs and risk assessments that will be used for a safe and timely completion of the turnaround.
Take a superintendent role on the shutdown supervising equipment overhaul, adhering to the companies policies on quality, standards and behaviors. Reporting updates to the planner, ensuring critical paths are monitored. Carrying out daily toolbox talks
