Mechanical Maintenance Engineer (Graduate Trainee)

Travancore Cochin Chemicals is a 250tonnes/day chemical plant established under The Government of Kerala, India, engaged in manufacturing of caustic soda lye, caustic soda flakes, hydrochloric acid, liquid chlorine and sodium hypochlorite. I was part of the mechanical maintenance unit which ensured the proper working of the plant. Here I gained the much essential practical knowledge regarding various mechanical systems; and firsthand experience on failure analysis, error rectification, maintenance planning and labour management. I was in charge of plant maintenance crew and have undertaken the preventive and breakdown maintenance works of
175tonnes/ day electrolyser plant, 100tonnes/day caustic flaking plant, 17tonnes/day chlorine refrigeration unit, chlorine filling station, 75 tonnes/day HCL acid plant, 10tonnes/day Soda-bleach plant, multistage-air compressors, single stage chlorine compressor, EOT Cranes, Fire tube boiler, Chemical storage vessels, FRP piping, various rotary and stationary equipments. I have also assisted the Chief Engineer – Projects in erection and testing of 10tonnes horizontal saturator vessel.
