Professional Experience
I know the drilling field through actual immersion in the gas/oil industry. Growing up on a large farm in Montana, after aiding the ongoing efforts at home I pursued an associate’s degree from the University of Montana Tech in engineering science (specifically petroleum engineering). As part of my engineering interest, I worked as a rough-neck in oil fields throughout Montana and surrounding areas. The work came easily to a farm boy who started his own hay baling business as an older teen.
Entrepreneurship and outstanding achievement underlay my efforts later in life as well, when I completed a B.A. in Business from U. of Montana Tech and left the state for other opportunities. Settling in St. Louis, Mo., marrying my beautiful wife Katie and raising a big family (three boys and a girl), I excelled as a financial advisor for Edward Jones. As my numerous awards earned during my tenure there prove, I embraced the required sales/marketing duties while exhibiting exceptional leadership ability. From the Webster Groves Edward Jones office, I managed the company’s regional sales team, upping revenue 28 percent during 2006 through 2009. Along with handling my own multi-million dollar business, I mentored employees in all aspects of the financial industry and introduced new initiatives, such as an employee “shadowing” program to outline job duties more succinctly. My personal efforts were cited in our branch’s unusually high retention rate.
