I have being in Procurement Department for the last 18 years in the shipping Industry. I have exposure to Purchasing Policies, Categeory Management, Vendor Development, Purchaser recruitment, Department integration and System's development. Job description as under in Torm A/s :
Deputy Manager (Team Leader) – Purchase
• In Charge of Complete Purchasing for a fleet of 8 Tankers, including arrangements for spare parts, stores, chemicals, paints, lube oils, repairs, surveys, landing of equipment for re-conditioning.
• Training of new purchasers, setting of KPIs, evaluation of Purchase Team.
• Vendor approval, development and evaluation.
• Signing of contracts for long term supplies with selected Vendors.
• Logistic support to all 8 ships. Chasing 8 moving targets globally to supply crucial parts.
• Consolidation of consignments for dispatch by sea as well as air as required.
• Generating reports for the fleet under various heads of expense.
• Follow up on claims, insurance of goods lost in transit.
• Department Responsibilities:- Requisition management, scrutinizing all requisitions received, prioritizing them, sending request for quotes, negotiating for better price and delivery time, taking approval from Superintendent, placing orders with suppliers and tracking all booked orders. Following up for timely delivery, consolidating shipments with freight forwarder, coordinating with vessel for timely delivery on board, tracking shipment, receiving invoice, entering the same in the system, connecting PO and taking approval from higher authority if required, ensuring timely payment to the suppliers. Follow ups for wrong supply/invoice etc.

I have complete my Graduation in Commerce in 1990 from Mumbai University. I have attended workshops in Materials Management. I have taken training in Oracle Financials and Advanced Ship net Procurement System.
