The project was granted the sponsorship of BMW and Lotus Cars UK.
A highly sophisticated computer model of the new BMW N52 engine was simulated using Lotus Engineering software to determine the effect of Variable Valve Timing on engine performance. The model results were validated against the actual BMW 5-series engine. Further analyses were done to construct an improved electronic map for the intake and exhaust camshaft timings. Project grade: Very good
