I was responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the tank barge to which I was assigned, including its operation and its routine maintenance, the protection of the environment, protection of the cargo or property of the charterer, charterer relations, and cargo paperwork. I was responsible for its seaworthiness, its routine maintenance, the safety of its crew, cargo administration and paperwork, cost control, crew supervision and on the job training, and other responsibilities that were assigned by the Master. I was also responsible for operating and maintaining the engine room and other mechanical systems and equipment aboard the vessel to which I was assigned, and its tow.

I also performed all transfers of petroleum products to and from the oil rig.
