Career Objective
• A full- time position in a lab and or office environment requiring an understanding of the fundamentals of chemical engineering, the use of highly complex problems, and my leadership abilities.
Professional Experience
Researcher
Spring 2010, University of Kentucky under Dr. Stephen E. Rankin
• Published abstract in AIChe’s Journal titled: “Quantum Mechanical Investigation of Ammonia Adsorption On Mixed hydroxylated Copper Sulfate-Silica System”
• Learned to use and created molecular models in ArgusLab to understand interactions between CuSO4, silica and ammonia.
• Quantified the energy characteristics of the adsorption properties of CuSO4, silica and ammonia.
• Designed models, that used the energy output of the system which could be related back to PV=nRT calculations.
• Calibrated the data to fit graphs using excel and calculated values using high energy equations.
Researcher
Fall 2010, University of Kentucky under Dr. Naresh Shah
• Built a 1” quartz tube packed bed reactor for the use in gasification by burning sub-bituminous coal, and different woods.
• Optimized hydrogen and carbon monoxide gas content and reduced CO2 emissions.
• Prepared syngas (a type of gas composed primarily of CO and H2) for the use in Fischer–Tropsch process.
• Gained skills in operating and understanding Gas chromatography.
• Acquired basic knowledge of building reactors using pipes, ferrules, gauges etc.
