Coordinated operations of a 1400 TPD Methanol Plant and two 850 TPD Ammonia Plants: Steam systems to 10,000 KPa; Synthesis loops operating at 8,000 and 15,000 KPa; Cryogenic Air Separation and Methane extraction systems; MEA systems; Ammonia refrigeration systems, Distillation towers; Self-contained potable water and sewage treatment systems.
• Managed twenty-operator team responsible for the commissioning and start-up of the entire Kitimat facility following eight separate and lengthy maintenance shutdowns, one of which followed a plant lay-up of a full year. Work included extensive shutdown planning, commissioning all new equipment, punch listing of all plant processes and liaison with maintenance and technical departments.
• Chairman and chief driving agent of a plant committee responsible for identifying all causes of plant effluent excursions and developing cost-effective, permanent solutions. The task force convened for two months and resulted in implementation of an effluent improvement project with construction costs in excess of eight million dollars and totally altered the way the Kitimat plant handled effluent. On site effluent excursion problems became essentially non-existent and Methanex, Kitimat were removed from the provincial polluters list.
• Prior to working in operations management, worked every field job in the operations progression system and operated both the Methanol and Ammonia panels for a period of 6 years.
