GTCL is a state owned company which is primarily responsible for construction, operation, maintenance of national gas grid and load dispatch of high pressure natural gas in Bangladesh.
Responsibilities: From the very beginning of my joining I was deputed to a pipeline construction project financed jointly by Government of Bangladesh (GoB) & Asian Development Bank (ADB). The project was to construct 30" dia 51 km Gas Transmission Pipeline with two River Crossings and one 550 MMSCFD Metering & Manifold Station. My responsibilities were to assist in followings:
1. Feasibility test of the project;
2. Prepare Bid Document according to ADB's guideline for
• Procurement of Materials (Pipeline, Ball Valve, Plug valve, Pig Traps, Various Fittings etc.);
• Construction of Cross Country Pipeline; &
• River Crossing as turnkey basis;
3. Evaluate the received Bid Offers;
4. Seeking permission from ADB for contract;
5. Arrange agreement with contractor through Company Secretarial Department;
6. Monitoring the field works at Construction Period:
• Assigned site activities;
• Checking fit-up for both mainline & tie-in welding that done using internal or external clamp;
• Monitoring Pre heating, Inter pass temperature, Post weld heat treatment and Control & Storage of Welding Consumables , Perform Hardness testing
• Ensure that inspection and testing comply with the specific requirements;
• Interpret ate the radiographic film of welding joint for Non-destructive Test (NDT);
• Further instruction for joint coating or repair the welding/cut-out;
• Monitoring the hydrostatic testing procedure, etc.
7. Reports to Company's Higher Authorities, Petrobagla, Ministry & ADB;
8. Supervising Final Gas Commissioning Works etc.
