Joined Islamabad office of A. F. Ferguson & Co., Chartered Accountants, as a trainee student under the student contract(period
ending on November 30, 2012) as per the requirements of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan, in the Assurance &
Business Advisory Services(ABAS) group and was promoted to Audit Senior in June 2011. During the training period, I had
opportunities to lead large audit teams to carry out statutory audits, joint ventures audits (operated and non-operated) etc. During
the tenure with A. F. Ferguson & Co., I was mainly responsible for:
„h Development of overall audit strategy and plan, which involves systems review, risk analysis and development of audit
tests aimed at reducing audit risks and execution and completion of various audit assignments ensuring adherence with
International Standards on Auditing (ISAs);
„h Review of internal control procedures to ensure adherence to management policies and control procedures and to
suggest improvements thereon through compiling formal internal control memorandums;
„h Review of corporate matters including ensuring compliance thereon in the light of Code of Corporate Governance for the
purpose of issue of opinion for listed companies;
„h Preparation of financial statements in accordance with the requirements of International Financial Reporting
Standards(IFRS) and Regulatory requirements (Companies Ordinance, 1984 / Petroleum Concession Agreements /
Joint Operating Agreements);
„h Delegation of job responsibilities, leading / directing audit teams in accordance with professional standards and
supervision / review of the work of the subordinates, performing under deadlines with excellent time management;
„h Establishing and strengthening of cordial client relationship through liaisons at various levels of client personnel
including top management;
„h Evaluation of audit queries and satisfactory resolution thereof with the client;
„h Reporting to engagement manager and engagement partner;
„h Preparation of documentation for Quality Control Reviews (QCRs) / liaisoning with group auditors; and
„h Adjustment in different team environments and participation in group think for effective and efficient solutions.
