Process Engineer- Gas based DRI plant

Presently working as Deputy Manager Production from April – 2011 with Welspun Maxsteel Ltd ( formerly Vikram Ispat )


Joined as trainee Operator with Vikram Ispat (A unit of Grasim Industries Ltd.) it is presently known as Welspun Maxsteel Ltd. in October-1990 during the training period, placed in RCF Chembur for classroom as well as field training for 1 year and 6 months.

Under gone the special classroom training conducted by HYL Mexico team. After that involved in erection and commissioning activities with HYL team.

April 1992 - March 1998, worked as Operator (Production), Panel / field Operator. It includes the operation of reformer, Co2 removal, utilities, power plant, reduction and reactor operations.

April 1998 to july2004 worked as an Asst. Engineer ( Main Plant), Panel/field engineer during the period worked as a panel and field in charge.


July 2004- to July 2008, worked as Shift Engineer (Main Plant) During this period worked as a shift in-charge. The main responsibilities were maintaining the quantity as well as quality of the product. Taking care of process parameters, operator’s manpower and leave planning. Issuing of the safety permits. Conducting training for operators. Ensuring smooth running of the plant. Handling of the emergencies.

July 2008 to April -2011 worked as a Asst.Manager (Main Plant) , during this period handled responsibilities like manpower planning , daily chemical issue & stock checking , contractor billing , extra jobs planning & execution through shift supervisors , shutdown planning , scheduling & activity execution , authorized signatory of all types of safety permits , ensuring Compliance to SOP & safe operating practices targeting Zero accidents


As a Deputy Manager I am reporting to the Manager Production and H.O.D. (Assist. Vice President Production.)
Field engineers /Panel engineers and shift engineers are reporting to me regarding day-today activities, plant related problems, manpower & raw material planning and job planning, training.

Areas of responsibilities:
As a Dy. Manager Following are my main responsibilities:
Ensuring smooth running of the plant.Cross checking of process parameters.Checking of quality control reports and taking necessory actions.
Overview of field chemical stock & daily consumption Issue of chemicals & other goods from stores.Field engineers, panel engineers and shift engineers manpower planning.ISO documentation.Start up and shutdown planning.
Contract labors job planning & attendance documentation.
Keeping the records of plant and utility chemicals.
Conducting training for new joiners, operators and engineers.
Job planning ensuring safety aspects.
Active participation in WCM activities.
SAP related activities like, contractors billing, notifications, and procurement of materials.
Safety responsibilities:
Ensuring the use of safety equipments by all operators’ engineers and labours.
Signing of the safety permits as dept head in absence of HOD.
Ensuring the fulfilling of safety aspects while issuing the permits.
Critical job planning. (Location of blinds dropping of lines, purging of lines in case of hot jobs and man entry.)
Participation in GRA.
Identification of unsafe areas and unsafe conditions.
Eliminating unsafe areas & conditions with help of service dept.
