While using a range of equipment and laboratory techniques, such as binocular microscopes, ultraviolet fluorescence, and Calcimeters assist the Mud Logger in some activities like:
 Adjusting sensor equipments on the rig floor, pit room, flow line and possum belly.
 Examined Cuttings under the microscope for lithological characteristics, oil staining and porosity in order to depict changes of lithology and appearance of new formations.
 Describe the sample after estimating the percentages of the various sample constituents.
 Determine lag time.
