Logistics Assistant

I am a Logistician with 6 years working experience looking for a position with increased responsibilities where creativity, teamwork, hard work, and innovations are required.

• Take responsibility for managing logistics in support of operations in other department.
• Facilitate and manage the implementation of the approved operational plan, with a specific focus on supporting the attainment of the overall strategic business plan and objectives.
• Coordinate, direct, supervise and monitor the day-to-day transportation and dispatching operation, with a current fleet of 50 x 30 ton truck & trailers, transporting road freight cargo in the CEMAC zone.
• Overall responsibility for planning and organizing of loading, lashing, weight distribution, routing, tracking, feedback and reporting as well as interaction with customers, customs and transport authorities to expedite delivery of cargo.
• Maximize productivity and effectiveness of the department by ensuring continuous workflow projections and proper allocation of work time.
• Maintain effective external relationships with appropriate contacts e.g. market players, transit agents, customers, etc.
• Ensure timely reporting to management on the status of matters within the department.
• Contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of systems, processes and practices within the department taking into account ‘international best practice’, cost reduction and operational improvement.
• Ensure compliance to all relevant occupational health, safety, quality and environmental management procedures and controls related to area of responsibility to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high quality products / services and a responsible environmental attitude.
• Lead, guide and manage the operations team with a total staff compliment of 61, of which only 2 staff members are direct reportees.
• Conduct performance evaluations for the staff members within the department in order to enable them to achieve the set objectives of the department. Provide coaching for performance improvement.
• In the event of potential vacancies within the department, assist in the recruitment and selection of the most suitably qualified and experienced candidates.
