Singularly responsible for all tender reviews and management of the Contracts function for the Iraq Geo-market, whilst working out of Islamabad Pakistan. The role primarily involved reviewing and negotiating all tenders until award; negotiation of terms and conditions with the clients and resolution of post contractual disputes, and negotiation and execution of local Master Service Agreements applicable to Iraq with certain clients. Clients were national all companies registered in Kurdistan and Southern Iraq as well as virtually all key international oil companies in the petroleum sector. Work scope required travel to Dubai, U.A.E and trainings new recruits of Schlumberger on the contracts policy and legal regime applicable to Iraq. During these two years, I was also delegated the task of handling contracts managements for Oman and the U.A.E. Along with external clients, contractual advice was also expected to be provided to internal clients such as the finance, procurement, risk management and those functions that provide Schlumberger’s core oilfield services, when required. Compliance with Schlumberger’s internal policy and standards was to be maintained and this also constituted an integral part of the role. Key contacts with the clients were established and then developed. In this period of time, Iraq became one of the largest geo-markets in terms of revenue and ambit of services within the Middle East Area.
