Rigger, Instructor, Competent Person for Lifting Operations

Rigmarine (August 2009 to present)

Employed as a Workforce Development Manager to set up and run the training division.
I have developed programmes for all aspects of our training for specialised services within the lifting equipment industry for both internal and external delegates. One of my main duties is to train national instructors to an international level and assist them in gaining professional awards to enable them to advance their careers. Competence assessment is another one of my major roles, with both clients and internal training.
We further negotiated a technical agreement with NSL to teach and verify competence awards to EAL standards.
At the present time, I am qualifying Rigmarine as the first OPITO approved and accredited centre in this region for lifting training disciplines.
I am in the process of qualifying as an EAL Level 3 Rigger and am currently acting as LOLER Focal Point and LOLER Lift Planner for a number of companies in the Azerbaijan region.


Test and Inspection Services (January 1994 to August 2009)

Contractor to Petrofac Training International (July 2007 to August 2009)
Principle role was to strengthen the existing core instructor in the lifting and rigging disciplines and to carry out training and assessments on shore and offshore for various clients including Rigblast, KCA Deutag, AMEC and other oil related companies.
My main expertise lies in the teaching, assessing and developing of programmes in Rigging and Lifting, Banksman Slinger, crane operations, lifting equipment test and examination and other lifting disciplines.

Contractor to North Sea Lifting (March 2004 to July 2007)
Initially contracted to train local labour to Banksman / Slinger and Rigging & Lifting Standards on the Shah Deniz project on Technip site, Baku. I was directly involved in lifting operations and site supervision.
I was then transferred to the BP SBS Supply Base as Supply Base Site Lifting Coordinator / Competent Person in Lifting Operations in Baku, Azerbaijan (still for North Sea Lifting Limited). This job involved all aspects of planning, supervising and co-ordinating of all lifting operations in the yard and quayside. Fully conversant with all aspects of Lifting Plans and related Risk Assessments and produced these documents for BP and CSM operations.

I have over 32 years of experience in the lifting industry and have carried out various and diverse roles within that time, being involved in technical sales, fabrication, steel erecting, repair, test, maintenance and design of lifting equipment, site supervision, LOLER lifting planning, training / assessment in lifting disciplines and HSSE subjects, development of training materials from scratch, site auditing, training coordination and managing a busy department.
My workplaces have included, marine vessels, offshore platforms, construction sites in the UK and overseas, including Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Dubai and Qatar as well as European countries.
My main qualities are integrity, good leadership and man management, the ability to plan, communicate at all levels, and my organizational skills are excellent.
