Principal Compliance Officer May‘10–Present
- Leading the Company’s regulatory compliance efforts in connection with its dual listing on London Stock Exchange and Kazakhstan Stock Exchange and guiding implementation through my network of worldwide professional advisors
- Direct reporting to the Board of Directors on all compliance risks and principal advisor to the Board of Directors Audit Committee on oversight of the compliance program implementation
- Developed the Company’s UK Bribery Act and US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act compliance framework from scratch and was responsible for deploying and embedding these policies in a high risk environment
- Empowered by the Board of Directors to drive, develop and gain consensus for governance and compliance policy throughout the Company in line with international best practice
- Negotiated with Kazakhstan regulator and incorporated amendments into the Kazakhstan existing regulatory rules to ensure the Company’s compliance with both UK Listing Authority and Kazakhstan regulatory requirements

- Led a legal team in farm-in and joint-venture negotiations with Global Oil Majors on offshore upstream projects and Middle East financial institutions on infrastructure development projects
- Drafted and negotiated with Kazakhstan competent authority all documentation around the production sharing agreement conversion into a tax and royalty contract for the second largest exploration block in Kazakhstan sector of the Caspian Sea
- Drafted and negotiated high value contracts, including mobile offshore drilling rig engineering, procurement and construction contract and offshore exploration drilling contracts
- Participated in Inter-Governmental Task Force on improvement of Kazakhstan Petroleum Law
