Assistant Logistics Manager

Coordination and communication, supervision of logistics staff, appraising of logistics staff, directing operations so that all distribution deadlines are met, provision of client care to WFP officials and partner NGOs, recommending the adjustments of the SOPs depending on working environment, crafting of the Logistics SOPs for clear logistics procedures and systems, management of the warehouse facility and ensuring commodity tracking is perfectly done.
 Ensuring the warehouse is productive by enforcing loss mitigation measures, minimisation of warehouse accidents, maximisation of client care, good coordination and service to programme
 Head of logistics roles-implementing logistics strategies which are cost effective
 Ensuring a smooth synergy amongst departments for a better yield
 Ensuring proper coordination and communication with remote field offices
 Authorisation of the purchase requisitions and purchase orders
 Co-ordinate and manage the supply of commodities and logistics support to UNWFP operations, including receipt, storage and issuance of goods
 Ensuring all reports from the warehouse are produced within the set time phrame
 Ensuring good warehouse and commodity management practices are implemented
 Co-ordinate logistics functions, integrating operations as far as possible, cost effectively and ensuring good relations with stakeholders
 Assist in the end-of-project stock reconciliation especially data on loans and repayments to ensure that projects are closed at project end date and transfer any unspent food and non-food resources to a new project phase or another operating project;
 Overall management of warehouse operations including, dispatch planning and scheduling to meet the distribution dates and time
 Provide technical support to Partner NGOs through some trainings, that is, warehouse management training and commodity tracking training
 Ensure both all service providers (warehouse contractor, transporters, cargo handlers, clearing agents and superintendent) perform within the agreed terms of reference.
 To assess, monitor and evaluate the performance of various contracted service providers
 Monitoring and enforcing the internal control systems at the Transshipment Point
My achievements:

. In 1999 and 2000, I got a best student in marketing and Purchasing & Supply at Mutare Technical College. And upon graduating with Masters degree, i received several Certificates of Achievement from Research, Negotiation and Marketing Channels.

I am currently studying MSc Degree in Logistics and Supply Chain management

Responsibilities

Prepare national logistics plans, coordinate and provide logistics support to ongoing WFP operations; Coordinate logistics activities with other departments; Implement logistics support policy, procedures and methodologies; Strengthening capacity of the Logistics department; Transport and fleet management, warehouse/inventory management, managing the supply chain for relief materials by providing technical advice and support to enhance skills.
