Mechanical Engineer- Reliability Engineer

Iam offering a unique set of demonstrated skills in the Mechatronics domain.Just recently,I’ve completed building a Mechatronic Machinery Fault Simulator (MFS)in which I utilized my mechanical training to design,manufacture and assemble a 4’by 8’MFS.

Electrical Design
•Experienced in PLC programming; Siemens S7 using Simatic STEP-7 v5.3, and HMI development using WinCC
•Strong circuit troubleshooting skills using Logic Analyzers and Oscilloscopes
•Proven experience with various instrumentation and signal filtering for industrial sensors including pressure and flow sensors, encoders, accelerometers etc.
•Understanding of various communication protocols including CAN, RS-232 and PROFIBUS
•Hands on experience in installing and controlling AC motors, Stepper motors, and VF drives

Mechanical Design
•Complete understanding of P&ID and IC schematics for various liquid process plant components encountered during my apprenticeship at Dar Al Handasah, Qatar
•Thorough understanding and hands on experience in the design, component selection and routing of hydraulic power systems as demonstrated in the 25 HP hydraulic dynamometer I designed for my research
•Hands on mechanical aptitude including demonstrated experience in operating machine shop equipment, metal working, equipment troubleshooting and test frame design
•Thorough understanding of various condition monitoring approaches with focus on vibration based monitoring using vibration analyzers
•Proficient in solid modelling and FEA analysis with hands on experience in FEA analysis of brake discs gained during my employment at MCV Mercedes Benz

Controls Design
•Fully knowledgeable on Lab View 2010 and NI Phar Lap real time operating system including data acquisition and the design of multi-sensor closed loop control systems

As a senior student I participated in the controls team in CUSP project; a capstone project involving 27 students from different engineering majors. I was responsible for developing the actuation stage of the system. To this end, I accomplished the following
•Installed three Danaher AKM-23D servo motors rated at 640Volts DC, interfaced them to Kollmorgen industrial smart drives and integrated the drives to a LabVIEW controller using an FPGA
•Built a LabVIEW project integrating the FPGA, an AHRS system and a real time Phar lap operating system
•Developed a Quaternion based closed loop orientation controller
•Successfully secured $8120 of sponsor funding as part of the business team
•Successfully presented the work accomplished in a PDR for an audience of 78 person; including representatives from the military and major flight simulation companies including CEA and Mechtronix
•Was awarded an A+ for the project
