Graduate Chemical Engineer

To develop relevant and competent skills withing the oil and gas industry. To understand all downstream and upstream processes and also gain exposure to the commercial side of the industry.

To fulfill ECSA work experience training in order to obtain my diploma, I worked as a Quality Lab Intern at Distell from February 2013 to May 2013. While at Distell, I used to:
• Perform accurate and timeous analyses on liquor samples as per sampling plans.
• Perform quality index inspections and process control training in accordance with required procedures.
• Report non-conformances timeously and liaise between the Quality department, Production and Materials.
• Implement and maintain laboratory accreditation.
• Maintain laboratory equipment in area of responsibility according to Good Laboratory Practices.
• Assist in maintaining the Quality Management system standards & Good Laboratory Practices.
• Perform administrative duties (including LIMS).
• Assist in problem solving.
• Actively participate in the Mini business operating system.
I was also part of several projects such as process improvement of the pasteurizer. I conducted quality audits around the plan. Carried out FMEA study on the lab equipment. Introduced new innovative ideas for the smooth running of the lab.

After leaving Distell, I then joined Thermaspray as the Production Assistant from June 2013 until January 2014. My duties were as follows:

• Production planning, monitoring and control
• Manage and maintain plant utilities and equipment
• Product quality assurance
• Communicate with clients and sub-contractors.
I was part of several projects such as, implementing LEAN principles, cooling tower assembly and erosion test rig design and build.

I just completed my Bachelor of Technology degree in Chemical Engineering (2014) from the University of Johannesburg and I am due to graduate in March 2015. I currently a National Diploma in Chemical Engineering(2011-2013) which was also obtained at the University of Johannesburg.

I am good team player, innovative, enthusiastic and have a thirst for learning. I am a hard working dedicated graduate and my academic results demonstrate that fact. It will be a privilege to be given the opportunity to contribute greatly to your team
