Structural Engineer

I am applying for a position in Structural Engineering, working with steel, concrete or composite structures. The opportunity for working in structural engineering fulfils my goal of professional development.

Researcher at LNEC (Since 2005)
Activities:
Analysis of the behaviour and resistance of steel, concrete and composite structures. Development of structural robustness, fragility and risk management investigations mainly focused on steel structures (buildings, bridges and special structures) and temporary structures. Cost-benefit studies to support risk informed decisions. Development of complex numerical models, including the formulation and implementation of special joint finite elements.
Development of special projects and expert reports requested by the Portuguese Government, and other public and private authorities concerning safety assessment, rehabilitation and retrofit strategies of steel, concrete and composite structures.
Development of special investigations requested by the Industry, to study for instance: bond strength between steel rebars and concrete, sandwich panels, telescopic props, composite slabs and steel sheeting.
Technical support to the activities related to Quality assurance of steel products used in reinforced and prestressed concrete construction, such as (i) normalization, and preparation of specification standards, (ii) metrological quality, evaluation of tests uncertainties.
Member of the subcommittee 4 “Mechanical tests” of the Technical Committee 12 “Steel and iron products”, supported by the Portuguese Quality Institute (IPQ).
