I have trained as a plant operator working in production, operating Butane and Orthoxylene fed reactors. I have operated distillation columns, work permit systems, effluent treatment plant, storm water systems, water purification system, fire water system, oil and coal fired boilers, 21/14/6 bar steam systems, bagging machines, general plant maintenance, chiller units. I am experienced in dealing with onsite fires, spillages, power failures, equipment failures, emergency shutdowns and numerous other problems that plague the industry. I have trained and worked on the DCS/SCADA system. I have worked 8hrs, 12hrs and day shift. I’ve been a key and instrumental figure in work being done on site as my major responsibility was issuing cold, hot, confined space permits including gas tests and risk assessments for work done on site. The ability to apply myself together with knowledge, experience and an open mind made me a success in my job. I have been a safety rep for 21 years. I have filled in the role as a training officer, training new employees on plant operations and procedures. I have also trained personnel on the site permit system. I have been instrumental in shutdown/startup and commissioning/decommissioning of plants and plant equipment. I have undertaken electrical, mechanical and instrumental isolations and lockouts together with record keeping. I have operated lpg pumps, systems including an lpg bullet holding up to a million litres of lpg supplied from Sapref refinery
