As BG International’s Group Competency & Training Manager, I advised on the development and established Competency Assurance Standards and Performance Systems for their global group consisting of 10 countries (UK, Tunisia, Egypt, India, Kazakhstan, Bolivia, Chile, Trinidad and Tobago, Australia and LNG Shipping.) I designed and implemented the associated competency led KPI system, and provided Competence Assurance reporting systems for all global assets and joint ventures.

This role benchmarked and monitored the Standards of Competency for global Assets; advised on technical training; and mentored competency assessment processes. The management of the International Competency Assurance Management System Standards involved design and maintenance of system processes to plan, initiate and develop Competency Systems, audits, reviews, or peer assists. Report information was provided to each Asset Senior Management team, and the BG Group Senior Management, with intervention and improvement strategies provided.

Achievements:
During my time in this role, 90% of Assets who had begun implementation of the global system had achieved their KPIs.

I developed and delivered a “Competency and the Training Managers Handbook” of required roles and responsibilities.

I was successful in leading the Global business to International Accreditation, which significantly included Kazakhstan operations making this the first Certified operation in the Caspian region, awarded through Offshore/Onshore Petroleum Industry Training Organisation (OPITO).
