Port Said has 666 companies with a capital of EGP 8.5 billion in the sectors of CIT, construction, financing services, building materials, agriculture, tourism, timberworks, pharmaceutical, food, chemical, engineering, metallurgical, and spinning and weaving industries.
The Port Said Free Zone, spanning across 171 acres, has 100 projects, staffed by more than 32,000 workers. The zone’s occupancy is 100%. Its plants operate in fields, which include ready-made garments, chemical, engineering, food industries, building materials, leather products, in addition to storage and service projects. The total issued capital of these projects is US $685 million. Port Said is a host to various new as well as existing opportunities for development and investment. For example, the East Port Said Port Project, which aims to add many logistical services, will support the industrial zone in the Port’s vicinity, as well as serve new urban communities. In addition, the expansion project of the Port Said Container and Cargo Handling Company (PSCCHC) aims to establish a container-handling terminal in East Port Said in order to connect the port with the West Port Said Container Terminal and meet development needs in this regard. An investment opportunity exists for the establishment of a new city in an area of 36,000 acres to accommodate some 2 million people. The city will include integrated service activities, health, educational and recreational services, as well as residential areas. Moreover, a tunnel will connect East Port Said to West Port Said to achieve further development. |
