Accompanied by the Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Tariq Kamel, the Minister of Investment, Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin, is scheduled to start a tour to Hong Kong and Singapore to promote the investment opportunities available in Egypt.
The two officials will open their 2-4 March tour by attending the Euromoney Conference in Hong Kong. The conference, chaired by Euromoney Regional Director, Richard Banks, will listen to a review of the developments of the Egyptian economy in FY 2008/09 and investment opportunities available in all fields. Singapore will be the next stop, where they will meet with officials of major financial and investment institutions. Dr. Mohieldin is to meet with the chairman of the Singapore Business Federation's International Relations Commission. Dr. Mohieldin will also participate in a symposium on the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) whose chairman will be profiling the EGX developments during the previous year. Egyptian private institutions and their Singaporean counterparts will also consider joint investment fields. And one more seminar would be discussing Egypt's investment opportunities and economy performance in 2009 and the 2010 prospects. Attended by the Singaporean President, S. R. Nathan, the seminar will consider the Egyptian economy merits in attracting Asian investments. Ministers Mohieldin and Kamel would also meet with Singapore's Minister of Trade and Industry, Lim Hng Kiang, on developing Egypt-Singapore economic and trade cooperation. In the visit, Minister Mohieldin will present Egypt's fresh investment projects, including 46 projects, costing $25 billion, supervised by the Ministry of Investment. Basically, they are integrated development projects in Upper Egypt, the Red Sea provinces and the North-West Suez Canal Economic Zone (SEZONE). They include integrated commercial and civil centers, railroad, airport, technological industries, tourism development and medical city projects. |
