Increase in Egypt Exports and Imports for 2004

The total value of Egyptian exports increased by 10.7 billion LE jumping from 32.6 billion LE in 2003 to 43.3 billion LE in 2004. This increase is the result of increasing exports of oil products, first class cottons, clothes, iron & steel, aluminum, and fertilizers in addition to many other products. Europe is the major consumer for this total export figure with 39% share.

The total value of the Egyptian imports had also increased by 13 billion LE. It was 58.4 billion LE in 2003 and increased to 71.4 billion LE. The most important imports are oil products, wheat, wood, chemicals and pharmaceutical products. The European contribution in the total export to Egypt is 38.4%.
