The Egyptian petroleum sector is currently studying proposals from Petronas of Malaysia to add two new LNG trains to the Egyptian LNG plant in Idku. This extension is proposed to meet the increasing demand for the Egyptian LNG in the international markets.
The Egyptian LNG plant in Idku consists of three LNG trains the first train will produce 3.6-million-tonne-per-year of liquefied natural gas. Production is expected in the third quarter of 2005. Second train production is scheduled by mid 2006. The Major shareholders of Idku LNG Project are Petronas, British Gas, EGPC, EGAS and Gaz De France. |
