Electricity Ministry Seeks Producing 58,000 Mgawatts

The electricity sector has finalized a new strategy that will continue until 2030 to provide and secure the growing increase in power consumption and loads during the next 20 years, including potentials to generate up to 58,000 megawatts, which is equivalent to the double of total power generated in Egypt's history until now.

After his meeting with Chairman of the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company and heads of companies of electricity production, transmission and distribution on 24/02/2012, Minister of Electricity and Energy Dr. Hassan Younis stressed keenness on adjusting his plans to meet the increasing loads and improve power efficiency for all subscribers, especially the present and future development projects.

Minister Younis explained that the new strategy includes an integrated mix of traditional and renewable energies of wind and sun, in addition to the peaceful possession of nuclear energy.
