HE Qatar's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr. Khalid bin Mohammad Al-Attiyah met here with the High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay , during his participation in the 19th high-level session of the Human Rights Council, which opened. During the meeting, they reviewed bilateral relations and joint cooperation between the State of Qatar and the High Commissioner for Human Rights, and ways to strengthen and develop them.
HE the Minister Dr. Al Attiyah stressed that Qatar attaches great importance to strengthening and developing relations with the Office of the High Commissioner and United Nations mechanisms for human rights. For her part, Pillay voiced appreciation for the distinguished efforts made by the Qatari government in supporting and promoting human rights and fundamental freedoms at all levels and in all places, emphasizing the depth and excellence of relations and cooperation between the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and the State of Qatar. She also praised the continuous support provided by state Qatar to UNHCR. HE Dr. Khalid bin Mohamed Al-Attiyah also met with the Minister of State for European and International Affairs of the Republic of Austria Dr. Wolfgang Waldner, . They discussed the relations of cooperation between the two friendly countries and ways to enhance them at all levels. The meetings were attended by HE Qatar's Permanent Representative the United Nations Headquarters in Geneva Sheikha Alya bint Ahmed bin Seif Al-Thani,, and Director of the Human Rights Office at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Khalid bin Jassim Al Thani. |
