Minister of Finance Momtaz el-Saeed said an agreement has been reached on launching an urgent plan to salvage the Egyptian economy during the coming 18 months. Emerging from a meeting held on 6/3/2012, el-Saeed said that the 14 point that agreed on during the meeting including rationalizing spending, reviewing subsidies system, reviewing taxation system without imposing new taxes, restructuring the public debt, attracting new investments, and achieving security in order to back up economy. He said an agreement was reached on continuing negotiations with international corporations and foreign and Arab countries on the proposed financial assistance.
Abbas Abdel Aziz, the deputy chairman of the People's assembly Economic Committee said that they agreed to study to enter into negotiations with Saudi Arabia and the UAE on the second package of the financial facilities about $ 4.5 billion. Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt Farouq al-Oqda, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Fayza Abul-Nage, the members of the economic committee, the People's Assembly Plan and Budget Committee attended the meeting. |
