Mohammed bin Zayed Meets South Korean President

His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces has discussed with South Korean President Lee Myung-bak, the existing relations and ways to bolster them in the best interests of the two countries. The South Korean President received at the COEX Convention and Exhibition Centre Sheikh Mohammed and the UAE delegation to the Nuclear Security Summit 2012.

During the meeting attended by H. H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince conveyed the regards of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Lee Myung-bak, and prosperity wishes to the Korean government and people. Sheikh Mohammed thanked the Korean President for the invitation to attend the Nuclear Security Summit 2012 in Seoul. He commended good preparation to make the event a success, hoping the summit would reach good resolutions.

Sheikh Mohammed said the UAE President is keen on enhancing the bilateral ties with friendly Republic of South Korea, citing the growth of relations in the recent years. "We stress the importance of the strategic cooperation ties, which link between the UAE and South Korea. We are looking forward to bolstering the cooperation ties in different fields. We welcome the Korean investments in the UAE and hope our visit will further reinforce the economic and investment partnership in different areas." For his part, the South Korean President conveyed his regards to the UAE President, wishing to the UAE leadership and friendly people progress and prosperity. He welcomed the participation of the UAE in this important summit, which draws world leaders and representatives of different countries to concur on the best methods to curb the misuse and proliferation of the nuke materials.

Lee Myung-bak congratulated the UAE leadership, government and people about the recent victory scored by the UAE National Olympic Football Team on qualification to the London Olympics 2012. He commended the level of existing distinguished relations between the two countries, citing the growth of the relations which meets the endeavours of the two friendly people. He appreciated the efforts of the UAE leadership for supporting the bilateral relations.

The South Korean President stressed keenness of his country on boosting the friendship ties between the two countries in a way that addresses the common interest and ensures the regional and international security and stability. During the meeting the two sides exchanged views on the latest regional and international development, as well as, issues of mutual interest. Sheikh Mohammed expressed his thanks about the warm feelings exhibited by the South Korean President to the UAE team.

Present were Khaldoun Khalifa Mubarak, Chairman of the Executive Authority Affairs, Nasser Ahmed Al Suwaidi, Head of the Department of Economic Development in Abu Dhabi, Abdullah Khalfan Mattar Al Rumaithi, UAE Ambassador to South Korea and Ambassador Hamad Al Ka'abi, UAE Permanent Representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency.
