Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni received here at the Presidential Palace Mohammed Ahmed Al Murr, the Speaker of Federal National Council (FNC) at the sideline of the 126th session of the General Assembly of Inter Parliamentary Union (IPU), which commenced. Al Murr conveyed the regards of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to the Ugandan leadership and people, wishing them success in their developmental process. He referred to the growing relations between the UAE and Uganda, which culminated with the opening of the UAE Embassy last year in Kampala, and the launch of direct flight from Dubai to Entebbe by Emirates Airline, adding that the move has strengthened the political, economic and tourist ties between the two countries.
Al Murr said the UAE policy is based on firm principles and respect of the international treaties and conventions, as well as establishing of the relations with all countries worldwide based on mutual respect. He said the UAE hosts the economic and tourism exhibitions in which Uganda can take part. For his part, the Ugandan President welcomed the positive developments in the relations between the two countries, citing the location of Uganda in East Africa as well as array of investment opportunities in the areas of agriculture, mineral and tourism. Museveni expressed his interest in bolstering the cooperation ties to the highest political level, including exchange of visits to further enhance the friendship and cooperation. Present were Rashid Al Shreqi, FNC Member, and Khalid Shuhail, Charge d ‘affaires of UAE Embassy in Uganda and Dr Musleh Aidh Salem Al Ahbabi, Adviser at the Embassy.
